Obituary

Winnifred "Winnie" Delores Miller was born January 25, 1935, in Benson, MN to the late Fred and Alice (Ecklund) Halvorson. She passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 in the Gove County Medical Center at Quinter, KS at the age of 75.


She graduated from Benson High School with the class of 1953. She attended Colby Community College and received her CMA Degree.


On December 29, 1962, Winnie was united in marriage to Francis Earl Miller in Riverside, CA. They moved to Quinter in 1973. Francis passed away November 26, 1998.


Winnie worked as a CMA in the Gove County Medical Center for twenty-five years. Her hobbies included traveling, reading and spoiling her pets. She also enjoyed gambling trips.


Those left to mourn her passing are her children, Steven and wife, LeAnn, Sandia Park, NM, Yvonne Shaffor and husband, James, Divide, CO, Roger and wife, Melisa, WaKeeney; two grandchildren, Breanna and Draco Miller; and two sisters, Verna Beckman and husband, Arville, Edina MN, and Virginia Toutges, Litchfield, MN.


Those preceding her in death were her husband, Francis; a brother, Delvin Halvorson; and an infant sister, Betty May Halvorson.

Visitation for Winnie will be 9:30-11:30 AM on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter, KS, with funeral services starting at 1:30 P.M also at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Gove County Medical Center and can be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
