Winifred Frances Delaney was born September 27, 1924, in Altoona, KS to the late William Duffton and Katherine Anna (Maletz) McGinnis. She passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010, at her home in Wichita, KS at the age of 85.
Frances graduated from LaFountain in 1942 and from the Business College of Wichita State in 1970. She was a skilled bookkeeper. She also worked as a substitute school teacher for USD 259. She was an avid bowler, the league secretary, and bowled in state tournaments for over 25 years. Frances was thrifty with coupons, enjoyed bingo and making and collecting recipe cards.
Those left to mourn her passing are her husband of 64 years, Oren, of Wichita; three sons, Charles, Sr., and wife, Debbie, of Rose Hill, Kenneth of Houma, LA, George Reuben and wife, Marlene, of Wichita; twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Jindra of Austin, TX, Lois Mott of Fredonia, KS; and a brother, Bill Meyers of Coos Bay, OR.
A son, Darrell Dwayne Delaney; daughter-in-law, Trudy Delaney; and a brother, Tom 'Bud' McGinnis preceded her in death.
Visitation for Frances will be 6-8 PM Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney. Services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, July 23, 2010 also at the funeral home. Interment is in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
