Obituary
Wilma Ilene Getz was born September 26, 1929, in rural Gove County, KS to the late Amil and Carrie (George) Rebarchek. She passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011, in the Gove County Medical Center at Quinter, KS at the age of 81.
She attended Glendale Rural School and Gove and Grinnell High Schools.
On July 31, 1948, Wilma was united in marriage to Harold Dean Getz in Hoxie, KS. He passed way August 5, 2006.
Starting in the mid 1960's, Wilma worked as a bookkeeper for CY Cattle Company, Gove, KS until 1981 when Harold & Wilma moved to Webster, KS and began operating Getz Kuntry Store. From there, Wilma went on to manage the Valley View Apartments in Stockton for 10 years until she retired and moved to Quinter in 2000.
Wilma was a very active member of the Church of the Brethren in Quinter and served on the board of the Quinter Senior Citizens Center. She also was a member of the Stockton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Rebekah Lodge, and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Her special interests included growing flowers, sewing, reading, and the Senior Companion Program. She was a hardworking and loving mother who treasured family times, especially with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Dean Getz and wife, Candy, of Gove; two grandsons, Levi Getz and wife Kelli, of Quinter, Logan Getz and wife, Shelby, of Gove; four great grandchildren, Kayler, Lakin, Kamry, and Layne Getz; three brothers, Wayne and wife, Charlene, Milton, all of Grinnell, George of Dighton; and four sisters, Beulah Anderson and husband, Andy, of Reno, NV, Emma Anderson of Dighton, Ida Offen and husband, Jim, of Yuma, AZ, and Caroleta Herl of Colby. Her husband, Harold, and an infant sister, Anna Rebarcheck preceded her in death.
A Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in Church of the Brethren at Quinter. No visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Senior Companion Program or the Quinter Senior Citizen Center and can be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
