Lifelong area resident, Wilma Ruth Dietz, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.  She was 88 years of age.  Wilma was born November 6, 1929, in WaKeeney, to Jacob and Bertha (Struss) Mohr.

Wilma graduated from Trego Community High School.  On April 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Ernest Herman Dietz.  They enjoyed 47 years of marriage together before he passed away on January 1, 1996.  Wilma loved gardening; she always had fresh flowers and produce.  She loved anything outdoors.  You could often find Wilma putting a fresh coat of paint on the walls, as she loved to paint.  She passed the extra time in the winter months with lots of quilting projects.  To say Wilma cherished her dogs would be an understatement.  She was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Those left to mourn her passing are her son, Larry Dietz and wife Betty of Savannah, Missouri; a granddaughter, Sarah and husband Jason Merrit of Champagne, Illinois; a brother, Ernest Mohr and wife Leanna of WaKeeney; a sister, Carolyn and husband Laverne Shoenthaler of WaKeeney; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Bryce Dietz; a sister, Marie Lahmann; and two brothers, Alvin and Martin Mohr.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2018, at the funeral home in WaKeeney.  Burial will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.  There will be a short visitation Monday one hour prior to services.
