William Arthur Long was born in Quinter, KS on June 1, 1926, to the late Otha Clarence and Eva Lavina (Dees) Long. He passed away Monday, October 11, 2010, in the Gove County Medical Center at Quinter at the age of 84.
He attended schools in Gove County, Kansas
On August 21, 1949, he was united in marriage to Betty M. Lunow in Minneola, KS.
Art was a farmer for many years and worked for Gove County for nineteen years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #164 in Quinter, VFW Post #2864 of Grinnell, was active in the Quinter Senior Citizen's Center and a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Quinter; two brothers, Robert Long of Weiser, ID and LeRoy Long of Albany, OR; four sisters, Phyllis Foote of PA, Allegra Reynolds of Boise ID, Darlene Laird and husband, Leland, of Weiser ID, and Alice Eldridge of Spencer, IA.
His parents; a brother, Donald Long; and a sister, Wauneta Merril preceded him in death.
Graveside services for Art will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in WaKeeney, KS with Pastor Keith Funk officiating.
