Wayne Lofton, age 77, of Hillsboro, Kansas (formerly of Ogallah, Kansas), passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro. He was born June 18, 1939, in McCall Creek, Mississippi, to Frank and Gladys (Blount) Lofton.
Wayne graduated from Start High School in Mississippi, earned his Bachelors of Sacred Literature from Ozark Bible College, and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Psychology at Fort Hays State University. On August 18, 1961, Wayne was united in marriage to Doris (Dot) Mae Facundus, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage together. Wayne and Dot and their children made their way to Kansas to pastor the Ogallah Christian Church in 1970, a ministry that lasted 39 years. Wayne's life could be summed up by saying that that he enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed sharing laughs in the company of family and friends, and sharing his deep love for Christ. Wayne loved God's creation, and enjoyed taking a spin around the lake in the boat, swimming off the dock, and just relaxing outside with a good cup of coffee. Wayne was a good man who touched the lives of so many people.
He will be missed by many friends and family. Survivors include, his wife, Dot, of the family home; two children, Shayla and husband Mack Clark of Peabody, Kansas, and Craig and wife Holly Lofton of Lindsborg, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Morgan Lendino, Hadlye Clark, BayleighArmstrong, Brock Yelton, Tyler Yelton, Trae Yelton, Megan Satran, and Paige Lofton; a great-grandson, Braddock Yelton; a brother, Larry and wife Maxine Lofton; and two sisters, Lucille Partin and Gwendolyn and husband Jim King. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Guy, Jimmy Dale, Earnestine, Francis, Dorothy, Mada Raye, and Frank, Jr.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Ogallah Christian Church, Ogallah. Burial will be in the Ogallah Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in WaKeeney.
