Warren Reed Conner, 81 died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney, KS. He was born October 20, 1928, in Holyrood, KS, to Warren C. and May (Reed) Conner.
He married Jeanne Custer on June 13, 1954, in the Presbyterian Church at WaKeeney. They resided in Ashland, KS thirty-five years before moving to WaKeeney in 1999.
Warren graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1951. He was a District Conservationist for thirty-four years, working with farmers and ranchers with the majority of that time in Ashland, KS.
He was active in scouting, earning his Eagle Scout Award. He was a member of the TKE Fraternity, Masonic Lodge and Midian Shrine, Lions Club and Kiwanis, an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, served on the Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital Endowment Board, and a past member of the Ashland School and KSHSAA Boards.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of WaKeeney; four children, Chris Conner of Mabank, TX, Reed Conner and Denise Haddon, of Great Bend, KS, Kim and Allen Randles of Sublette, KS, David and Christina Conner of Levelland, TX; and two grandchildren, Jordan and Macy Randles.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Warren will be 5-7 PM Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 24, 2010 in the Presbyterian Church. Interment is in WaKeeney City Cemetery.
