Virgil Elwood Sneath, 89, of Quinter, KS, passed away on January 30, 2023.  Virgil was born in Kaneer, KS on November 29, 1933. He graduated from Geneseo High School and continued his education at a vocational school.

Virgil was united in marriage to Joyce Sprick on December 7, 1978; they were married for 44 years.  He worked as an electrician for years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, stock car races, and football. He was also actively involved in Gove Community Bible Church.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Quinter; children, Sherry, Gene, Justin, and their spouses and children; siblings, Earl, Gerald, Laura, Carolee, Ed, Cheryl, Don, Judy, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna; brothers, Gary, Clyde, and Harold; children, Jody, Debbie, and Jeannie; and grandson, Maverick.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 3, 2023, in Gove City, Kansas. Pastor Chris Thomas of Gove Community Bible Church will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter, KS.

Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Gove Community Bible Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Kids of Gove Community Bible Church (to be used for playground equipment and assistance sending them to church camp).  Donations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12 ^th , WaKeeney, KS  67672.
