Viola B. Ridgway, 99, Ellis, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Ellis Good Samaritan Society.  She was born August 14, 1914 on the family farm east of Ellis, KS to John and Minnie (Krumpfus) Wentling.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis.  As a young girl, she attended Beaver Bank Grade School and continued her education at Ellis High School.

On January 31, 1933, she was united in marriage to Cleggett Ridgway in Russell, KS.  She was a homemaker.  She enjoyed her family, farming, animals, gardening and cooking.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and U.M.W. in WaKeeney.  She was also a long time member of the Y.M.P. Club of Ogallah and the Trego County Extension Unit.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Emlen of Hays; daughter-in-law, Janet Ridgway of Claremont, CA; three grandsons, Frank Warren (Jan) of Germantown, MD, Mark Warren (Debra) of Chicago, IL, and Douglas Ridgway (Rebecca) of San Francisco, CA;  and three great-grandchildren, Hailey Warren of San Francisco, CA, Caroline Warren and Jack Warren of Chicago, IL.  A sister-in-law, Margaret Ridgway and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son Arthur Ridgway; and two brothers, Oscar and Leroy Wentling.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2014 at WaKeeney United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
