Obituary

Victoria Zerr, 89, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at Gove County Medical Center – Long Term Care, Quinter. Victoria was born August 17, 1925, in rural Gove county, to George and Theresia (Loevenstein) Zimmerman. She attended Grainfield schools through the 8th grade.

On August 12, 1946, Victoria was united in marriage to Dominic "Tom" Zerr in Grainfield. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2008. Victoria loved being a farmwife, working side by side with her husband, farming and raising cattle, until they retired and moved to Grainfield in 1993. Victoria also helped Tom raise registered racing greyhounds. She served as past president of the VFW Auxiliary of Park, and the Senior Citizens Center, Grainfield. She was a member of the St. Agnes Ladies and Church. She loved sewing, quilting, ceramics and gardening. Victoria also enjoyed playing cards and cherished the Zimmerman family reunion each year. Many nieces and nephews held a special place in Victoria's heart; she treated them as her own children. She will be missed by many.

Victoria is survived by one bother, Jake Zimmerman of Grainfield; two sisters JoAnn Engel of Oakley, Magdalena "Mactie" Uhrich of WaKeeney. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Margaret Deges , Frances Zerr, Anna Mary Heier; and one brother Joe Zimmerman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Grainfield with Frs. James Thomas and Mitchel Zimmerman and Deacon Dennis Engel as con-celebrants. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery, Park.

Visitation will be Friday, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a parish vigil service immediately following, at the St. Agnes Religious Education Center in Grainfield.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Agnes Masses, Quinter Volunteer Ambulance Service or the St. Agnes Ladies. Memorials may be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 South Main, Quinter, KS 67752.
