Obituary

Theophil "Ted" Quint was born August 19, 1933 in Rush County, KS to Anton and Bertha (Holzmeister) Quint. He passed away April 11, 2013 in the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care in Quinter, KS at the age of 79.

As a child he went to school in Loretta, KS; later he attended school in Quinter and graduated with the Class of 1952. He married Margaret Mitchell in 1953; they lived in Haysville, KS, where he worked as a technician at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita. Later he worked as a mechanic for Dunlap's Garage then McCray's Garage in Haysville. Their four children were born in Wichita, Ted Jr., Ron, Barbara, and Laura.

After returning home to the Quinter area, Ted's parents were ready to retire from the farm, so Ted took over farming the land. He also worked as a mechanic at Barrett's Motor Company, Unruh Chevrolet and Francis Jamison Construction. After quitting his mechanic work, Ted continued farming until entering the Long Term Care.

Ted has always been an avid outdoorsman, with fishing and hunting being some of his favorite hobbies. Ted loved polka music and was a great dancer.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother Alfred; a sister Delores Stegman; two brothers Harold (Mert) Quint and Melvin Quint; a sister-in-law Josephine Quint; and two brothers-in law Ben Stegman and Virgil Kopsky.

Ted is survived by his sons Ted Jr. (Micki) Quint of Hays and Ron (Flo) Quint of Quinter; daughters Barbara Mader of Hoxie and Laura (Gary) Kesler of Quinter; one brother Fred (Kay) Quint of Pueblo, CO; three sisters Carol (Bill) Backer of Torrance, CA, Alverna Kopsky of Hot Springs, SD, and Julie (Leonard) Rome of Lakewood, CO; sister-in-law Virginia Quint of Pueblo, CO; sixteen grandchildren Amy (Randy) Schmidt of Hays, Dixie Quint of Merriam, Terry (Crystal) Quint of Hays, Dustin (Amber) Quint of Arkansas City, Chad Quint of Colorado Springs, CO, Jeremy (Michelle) Quint of Colby, Crystal Quint of Wichita, Michael (Mindi) Mader of Ellis, Clayton (Jenny) Mader of Topeka, Adam (Dawn) Mader, Martin (Renee) Mader, Joshua Mader, Jesse (Samantha) Mader, KayAnn (Travis) Schaffer, all of Hoxie, Grady (Jessica) Kesler of Mission, and Brice Kesler of Goodland; fifteen great-grandchildren Dezarae and Dakota Schmidt, Quinten Johnson, Kolby and Kody Quint, Jarret, Kia and Coltan Mader, Jentry Mader, Trinidy and Kadin Mader, Madison and Dylan Mader, Jett Mader, Derek Schaffer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care and are in care of Schmitt Funeral Home 901 S. Main Quinter KS, 57752.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Michael Catholic Church in Collyer, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2013, followed by a 7:00 p.m. vigil service, all at Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter.
