Obituary

Thelma Losey was born September 6, 1920, in Cannelton, IN to the late Thomas Earl and Anna Marie (Huff) Rawlings. She passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, in the Gove County Medical Center at Quinter, KS at the age of 89.


As a young girl, Thelma attended schools in Anderson, IN.


Thelma married Bill Losey in August of 1937. He passed away in 1947. On June 5, 1948, Thelma was united in marriage to James Peter Losey in Gove, KS. They farmed in Gove County for many years. Jim passed away February 9, 2008.


Thelma was a member of Gove Community Bible Church and Pleasant Hour Club. Special interests and hobbies were oil painting, which was her favorite, sewing for crafts, reading, writing, cooking and her specialty was 'building' pies. She treasured the times spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Surviving members of Thelma's family are two sons, Bill and wife, Betsy, of Hays, Bob and wife, Jeanita, of Grinnell; two daughters, Wilma Peterson and husband, Lloyd, of Overland Park, Sue Jones and husband, Bruce, of St. George, KS; nine grandchildren, Bill Losey and wife, Joyce, Jim Losey and wife, Sandy, Rebecca Haury and husband, Bill, Julie Peterson, Jill Morsbach and husband, Tom, Cindy Diederich and husband, John, Robert Losey and wife, Helen, Troy Losey and wife, Monica, Todd Losey and wife, Christin; and eighteen great-grandchildren.


Those preceding Thelma in death were her husbands, Bill and Jim; a granddaughter, Stephanie Jones Yarges; and two sisters, Dorothy Dailey and Almeda Geeting.

Visitation for Thelma will be 6-8 PM on Wednesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter, KS with services at 10:00 AM Thursday at Gove Community Bible Church, Gove, KS. Interment is in Gove Cemetery.
