Obituary

Ted Walt, Jr. died Thursday morning, July 19, 2012, at the age of 69 years, 10 months, and 6 days.

Ted was born near Collyer, KS, on September 25, 1942 to Ted, Sr. and Ella (Goetz) Walt. He married Rosemary Dinkel, in Collyer on October 7, 1961. They were blessed with three children, Larry, Terry, and Patty. Ted and Rosemary were lifelong residents of Collyer.

In July, 1963, he opened his own automotive repair business, known as Walt's Repair Shop. He retired from the business in 1995, when his oldest son, Larry, assumed ownership. In 1980, he began farming his dad's land, and continued until his death. He and Terry worked together farming and raising cattle since 1982. In the 1990's, he sold his cattle to Terry and concentrated on farming. He was a true steward of the land and loved every aspect of farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary; and an infant sister Joquetta.

Ted was a wonderful role model for his children and grandchildren, and loved spending time with them. Work was his greatest joy, however, he also enjoyed hunting, and camping. He trained several German Shorthaired Pointers, operated a controlled shooting program until his death, and dearly loved working with his dogs. He was a member of the Sunflower German Pointer Club of Wichita, and the Sunflower Polka Club of Hays.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Rosemary, of their home; two sons, Larry and wife, Angie, Terry and wife, Laura; a daughter, Patty Knop and husband, Jeff, all of Collyer; seven grandchildren, Tyler Walt and wife, Christina, Blaine Walt and fianceé, Ryan Zimmerman, Keith Walt, Derek Walt, Karly Rose Knop, Nikki Knop, and Brittney Walt, all of Collyer; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Taylor Lynn Walt of Collyer; a sister, Marq Von Lintel and husband, Larry Rupp, Kansas City, MO; two nieces, Megan Von Lintel of Kansas City, MO, and Amy Von Lintel and husband, Matt Welch, of Amarillo, TX; and many relatives and friends.
