Obituary
Sheryl Dinkel Powers was called by her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2012 at the young age of 45 years. Sheryl was born on May 13, 1967 in Quinter, KS to Rudolph and JoAnn Dinkel. She attended Grainfield Elementary School and was a 1985 graduate of Wheatland High School. Sheryl graduated from Fort Hays Kansas State University with a BS degree in elementary education. Sheryl completed her Master's Degree in Educational Administration at Texas A&M - Commerce.
Sheryl began her career teaching at Palco , KS for 2 years before moving to Waco Texas, where she taught for 6 years at East LaVega Intermediate school.
In 1997 she began teaching at Piner Middle School in Sherman, TX, before becoming Assistant Principal at Sherman's Dillingham Intermediate in 2006. In 2009 she became Assistant Principal at Sherman ISD's Neblett elementary and was promoted to Principal the following year.
Sheryl was blessed with a daughter in 1996, Samantha (Sami) Erin Powers, who was the joy in her life. She loved following Sami's activities and lived for her happiness. She is survived by Samantha, of the home, her parents, Rudolph and JoAnn Dinkel of Quinter Kansas, three brothers, Ron (Vickie) Dinkel of Emporia, KS, Allan (Wanda) Dinkel of Quinter, KS ,Tom (Nancy) Dinkel of Garden City, KS, two sisters Kaye (Albert) Goetz of Park Kansas, Kathy (Mike) Mathes of Topeka, KS, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well as her students, staff, and community at Neblett Elementary and Sherman ISD. She will be sorely missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Grainfield, Kansas at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 16, 2012 with internment in the Grainfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Schmitt Funeral Home of Quinter
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Samantha Powers Education Fund, c/o American Bank of Texas, PO Box 1234, Sherman, TX 75091-1234, or may be left at the funeral home.
