Sara Fern Buchholz, who lived to be 96 years, 10 months, and 23 days old, passed away on October 12, 2024, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital - LTC in WaKeeney, Kansas. She was born on November 19, 1927, in Hoosier, Kansas the daughter of Fred and Verna (Rankin) Batdorf.
She graduated from Cedarvale High School and then moved to Wichita to work. Sara's favorite job was working for Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator. On May 2, 1946, she married Roy Albert Buchholz in Wichita. Together, they moved to WaKeeney, where they raised their four children and worked in the community. Roy preceded her in death on May 19, 2014.
Sara is survived by her daughter, Della Stone of Kanopolis, KS; son, David and his wife, Diane Buchholz of Ellsworth, KS; daughter, Barbara Bond and her husband, Michael, of Aurora, Colorado; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; daughter, Betty Fields; and three sisters, Tillie, Faye, and Elizabeth.
Funeral service will be on Friday, October 25, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney. Followed by burial in the WaKeeney City Cemetery Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Trego County - Lemke Memorial Hospital - Long Term Care.
