Obituary

Ruth Marjorie Walz, 95, of rural Ellis, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.

She was born August 4, 1917, in rural Graham County, Kansas, to Ray O. and Lois Mae (Eaton) Noah. Ruth was a 1935 graduate of Palco High School.

Ruth married Henry C. Walz on October 8, 1938, at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in rural Graham County. She was a country schoolteacher before her marriage, and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church up until its closing. She then became a member of the Redline Church of God. Ruth was also active as a member in the Women's Christian Temperance Union, the Women of the Church of God, and the Mothers and Daughters Club. She enjoyed sewing and cherished her time spent with family.

Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons Leroy Walz and wife Brenda of rural Ellis, and Stephen Walz of rural Ellis; three daughters Roma McConkey and husband Darris of Camdenton, Missouri, Linda Thompson of Corona, California, and Beth Johnson and husband Ralph of WaKeeney; two brothers Raymond and wife Cleo of Lexington, Kentucky, and Calvin and wife Joan of Valley Center, Kansas; one sister Rose Mary Hillman of Hays, Kansas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Darrel Noah.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Red Line Church of God in rural Palco. Burial will be in the Morlan Township Cemetery in rural Graham County. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the church.
