Robert "Bob" Dawayne Steerman, 68, of Gove, Kansas, passed away on October 15, 2024, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Born on February 21, 1956, in Quinter, Kansas, Bob was the son of Russell and Earlene (Bretton) Steerman.

Bob grew up in Gove, where he attended Gove Grade School and graduated from Wheatland High School in May 1974. His passion for mechanics led him to earn an associate degree in diesel mechanics from Goodland Vo-Tech. He began his career at Shaw Motors, but his dedication to his community soon found him serving as a road grader operator for the Gove County Road Department, a role he cherished and held for most of his life. After retiring, he continued to stay active, working on a ranch alongside his brother David until 2022. Above all, Bob's heart was filled with love for his children and grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride throughout his life.

Bob is survived by his son Dusty (Brenda) Steerman of Gove, Kansas; daughter Shelby Getz of Grainfield, Kansas; grandchildren Austin Hawkins, Layla Steerman, Leeta and Junior Gorczyca, and Layne, Layton, and Sage Getz; brother David (Diane) Steerman of Wamego, Kansas; and sister Deborah (Dale) Heideman of Alta Vista, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Gove Community Building, located at 305 Broad St., Gove, KS 67736. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Gove Cemetery.
