Rita Houdeshell, age 72, of Quinter, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Hays Medical Center. She was born June 7, 1941, the daughter of Harley J. and Helen (Strobel) Everett, in Great Bend.

She was a graduate of Radium High School. On March 4, 1963, Rita was united in marriage to Larry W. Houdeshell in Dodge City. She worked for many years and retired as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at Gove County Hospital in Quinter. She was a very proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with them; she especially enjoyed working with them on a craft project, so they would have something to take home that they created with Grandma. She was also known for her "green thumb"; plants were always in good hands with her.

Survivors include her husband of the family home; a son Aaron J. of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a daughter Helen "Rene" and husband Norman of Phillipsburg; four grandchildren Bret, Riley, and Brittany Houdeshell and Trevor L Norton; and a great-grandchild Alex Houdeshell. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece Debra Bird.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 29, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Park. Burial will take place at 4:30 p.m. in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, in Seward.

Visitation and viewing will be Friday, from 9 to service time at the church.
