Paul L. Zerr, age 84, of Colby (formerly of Park) passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Citizens Medical Center, Colby. He was born October 6, 1928, in Park, the son of James M. and Martha C. (Depperschmidt) Zerr.
Paul attended a one-room school called West Sunny Slope in rural Gove County. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict. Paul worked for a landscape company, having helped to landscape many rest stops along I-70 in western Kansas. He also did masonry work and farm work throughout western Kansas. Paul enjoyed fishing and hunting; he enjoyed making his own flies for fly fishing. He was nicknamed "Pool Hall Paul" as he loved to play cards and pool. He was a member of the Oakley VFW and the American Legion.
Paul will be dearly missed by a brother Arthur Zerr of Thornton, Colorado; and five sisters Adalaid Kruse of Colby, Henrietta Jackson of Pamona, Colorado, Julia Robben of Colorado Springs, Colorado, LaVerda Falkenburg of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Ramona Zerr of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and an identical twin brother, Leo.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home of Quinter.
