Patricia Rose "Pat" Falley, age 73, of Quinter, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. She was born December 5, 1941 at home on a farm southwest of Quinter to Michael A. and Mary Ann (Augustine) Younger-Brock-Whitaker.
Pat grew up on a farm, where she was very involved with milking cows and running the tractor. Pat's father was a school teacher and principal. She always attended grade school wherever he was teaching. They were one-room schools, with no running water or modern facilities. Pat graduated grade school from Selden Grade School, where her dad was serving as principal. She then graduated from Quinter High School in 1959. Pat attended Fort Hays State College, where she met Warren Falley. They were united in marriage in Park on September 30, 1961. The couple lived in Quinter until 1966, when Warren started a civil service job in Fort Riley. In August of 1968, Pat started working for Dillon Division, in the meat department. She worked there until retirement in May of 1997. After retirement, Pat began to make quilts for her children and grandchildren. She loved the outdoors, but rheumatoid arthritis kept her from spending much time outside. She kept an upbeat attitude and didn't let that keep her from enjoying life. She loved reading books and always looked forward to a fishing trip. No matter where they lived, Pat was always giving of her time at church, as a member of the various women's groups. Pat and Warren moved back to Quinter in May of 1997. She really enjoyed being back in a small town. She was never a big town girl. She and Warren had a very special marriage; they did everything together.
Survivors include her husband, Warren; two children, Duane D. and wife Lynda of Victoria, and Diana Overton of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren; one brother, Paul Joseph Younger of Firestone, Colorado; and two sisters, Delores Ann Worthington of Manhattan, and Mary Aileen Zerr of Quinter. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Gerald "Jerry" Younger.
