Padgie Whisler, age 79, of WaKeeney, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital. She was an area resident for most of her life.

Padgie was born July 11, 1933, the daughter of Barnie Horace and Velma Jewel (Newman) Lee in Logan County, Arkansas. She was united in marriage to Robert G. Whisler, Sr. on August 14, 1948. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage together until Robert passed away on November 9, 1994. Padgie spent most of her working life as a home care worker for the Social and Rehabilitation services, caring for the elderly. She retired in 2007. She was especially proud of her work as a Gold Coat. She loved reading a good book and doing any type of needlework. When her children were young, she enjoyed family camping trips.

Padgie will be dearly missed by one son Robert Whisler, Jr. and wife Rhonda of WaKeeney; one daughter Kathy and husband Dale Conrad of SedroWoolley, Washington; two brothers Barney Lee and wife Jerry and Bobby Lee and wife Judy, both of Dodge City; one sister Sharon Fleming of Coldwater, Kansas; seven grandchildren Tammy Ziegler, Michelle Bennett, April Stoppelman, Ted Whisler, Jason Whisler, Shawn Shubert, and Sara Starr; and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers Charles, Carl, James, Harold, and Larry; one sister Sue Moran; and an infant grandchild.

Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Schmitt Funeral Home of WaKeeney. Burial will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
