Quinter resident Norma Lou Lanham passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Gove County Medical Center, Long Term Care. She was 83 years of age. She was born on January 25, 1931, in WaKeeney to Sanford D. and Nettie (Billings) Armstrong.
Norma was united in marriage to Dale (Sonny) Lanham, in Spearville. After Dale's death, Norma lived out the rest of her life at the Long Term Care. Norma was a homemaker and cleaned houses for a good part of her life. She attended the United Methodist Church in Grainfield and later in life looked forward to Sundays at the United Methodist Church in Quinter. Norma was known to have the talent of singing along to music during the different church services held in the Long Term Care. In addition to having a joyful outlook on life, Norma loved to dress up and go for drives in the country. Norma Lou found joy in keeping scrapbooks as well as sending and receiving cards. Her love for her parents was evident in that she talked about them often. Norma rarely missed a planned activity and made people smile with her wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include her brother, Bill Armstrong; three nieces, Elaine Sterrett of Quinter, Eileen Ruder of Oakley, and Ellen Albers of Grinnell; one nephew Earl Armstrong of Tulsa, OK; and several great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dale (Sonny) Lanham; nephew, Eric Armstrong; and great-niece Ashely Ruder.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Schmitt Funeral Home of Quinter.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home in Quinter.
