Lifelong Wakeeney area resident, Maxine Hacker, passed away, Friday, July 12, 2013 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. She was 93 years of age. She was born November 12, 1919, in WaKeeney, the daughter of Charles "Buck" and Ruby (Galloway) Bradley.
Maxine graduated from Trego Community High School. On October 12, 1940, she was united in marriage to Raymond R. Hacker, in WaKeeney. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together until Raymond's death on December 14, 1998. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She loved to play bridge, was an avid doll collector, and enjoyed shopping. In Maxine's more mobile days, it was never a surprise to find her hard at work in her flower garden. She sang in the church choir and was a member of the Ogallah Ladies Aid. Maxine was known for her talent with sewing. She did very meticulous work by hand on doll clothing and children's clothing. She served at the sewing booth for many years at the Trego County Fair.
Maxine is survived by her son Max and wife Janice of WaKeeney; one sister Betty and husband Roger Hendershot of WaKeeney; two grandchildren Tim Hacker of Ogallah and Terena and husband Dustin Becker of WaKeeney; six great-grandchildren Christine and husband Ardon Zangi of Sublette, Shelby Hacker of Garden City, Tanner and wife Kaitlin Buller of Silverdale Washington, Julian and Jase Coker and Madilyn Becker, all of WaKeeney; two great-great-granchildren Axton and Waylon Zangi; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant twin brother Max, a brother Harold and a son Kenneth.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 16 at Schmitt Funeral Home of WaKeeney with Pastor Jon Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
