Obituary

Mary Alice "Mimi" Gookins Rush, 95, died Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Gove County Long Term Care in Quinter, KS. She was born the fifth of eight children on October 8, 1916 in Hutchinson, KS to Frank and Louise Gookins.

She graduated from Grinnell High School in 1934. Mary Alice married Oscar Rush on December 20, 1934 and the couple lived most of their married life in Natoma, KS. Mary Alice was the bookkeeper for the family business, Rush Well Service. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, playing bridge, trap shooting, and traveling. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and The United Methodist Church in Natoma and served on the Board of Education in Natoma.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Rush, five siblings, and great-nephew Matthew Eklund. She is survived by daughter Linda Zeigler and husband Ken of Quinter, KS; granddaughters Heather Perkins and husband Paul of Wichita, KS, Azure Zeigler of Fort Collins, CO, and Charity Zeigler of Kansas City, KS; sisters Charlotte Schlatter and Virginia Eklund, both of Hutchinson, KS; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service is planned for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, at Natoma Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Gove County Long Term Care or Hospice Services, Inc. http://www.hospicenwks.net/.
