Mary Hillman, long time resident of WaKeeney, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Hays Medical Center.

Born in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1924, Mary moved to WaKeeney when she married Waldo P. Hillman in 1947.

With an abundance of grace and strength, Mary lived a rich and full life. Always the go-getter, Mary enthusiastically tried new things and was always up for an adventure. From bowling to bingo, crocheting to crafting, Mary enjoyed a variety of activities. Often referred to as "the Cake Lady," her love of baking was matched by her love of gardening and dancing. She worked in and out of the home, with her most meaningful work being the last twenty-seven years she spent as a Senior Companion at the TCLMH Long Term Care Unit.

Mary is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rose and Randall Moore of Texas and Marsha and Brian McLean of California. She is also survived by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Robert Moore of Texas; Dixie and Charles Hacker of Texas with their children Jacob, Garrett, Ethan, and Kaitlyn; Erica and Rob Smith of California with their sons Kaleb and Nathaniel.

Her husband, son Roger Hillman, and grandson Troy McLean, preceded her in death.

Memorial gifts may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in WaKeeney and/or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, Kansas.

Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 17 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney, with inurnment in WaKeeney City Cemetery.
