Mary Elizabeth (Beckner) Wolf, Bayer
Daughter of Clyde and Maggie Beckner, born July 16th 1930.
She went to be with her Maker suddenly on January 8th 2012, while worshiping in the house of the Lord. Her days on this earth were 81 years.
Mother accepted her Saviour and was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church and to which she remained faithful. She married Eldon Eugene Wolf on December 11th 1949. They farmed in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. From there they moved to Florida for a short time. In 1959 they moved to Modesto, CA, there they made lots of new friends. In 1969 the family moved to Quinter, Kansas, where she enjoyed small town living and her church family. In 1976, Eldon passed away in a tragic accident, leaving Mother to bravely raise her children alone. June 25th 1988, Mary married David H. Bayer, from Covington, OH. They enjoyed over 18 years of marriage and traveling to see their children, until the passing of David on March 21st 2007.
Mary will be remembered by all for her kind hospitality, concern for others and for saying her piece, "Ain't Love Wonderful." She demonstrated love to all she knew.
She is survived by 7 children: Carolyn and husband Walt Emig; Lois and husband Merle Edgecomb; Calvin Wolf, Janice and husband Roger Knaus; Terry and wife Leann Wolf; Tom and wife Jackie Wolf; Kathy and husband Arlin Dutter; step children, Becky and husband Joe Jamison; Steve and wife Bernice Bayer; Phil and wife Lisa Bayer and Barbara Bayer; one brother Paul and wife Hazel Beckner; brothers-in-law Vernon Jamison; Evert Lair; Joel and wife Lorene Bayer; sisters-in-law Charlotte and husband Dennis Mahin; Sarah and husband Glenn Flora; Opal Bayer; Lucille Bayer; Mary Skiles and 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 10 step grand children and 20 step great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her companions; an infant son Eddie Lee; a brother Lewis Beckner; a sister Frances Jamison; brothers-in-law George Bayer; John Bayer and Alvin Skiles; sisters-in-law Rachel Beckner; Violet and husband Richard Flora; Ruth Lair; and one step grand daughter.
Visitation is 5-9 PM Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in Schmitt Funeral Home at Quinter, KS. Services will be 10:00 AM on Thursday at the Old German Baptist Church in Quinter. Interment is in Big Creek Cemetery.
