Marvin R. Hamburg was born May 4, 1922, in Ellis, KS, to the late Ernest and Anna (Spilker) Hamburg. He passed away Monday, January 31, 2011, in the Good Samaritan Society-Ellis in Ellis, KS at the age of 88.
He graduated from Ellis High School and later served in the United States Army during WWII.
On August 4, 1946, Marvin married Anna Viola Zachman in St. John's Lutheran Church at Ellis. Together they farmed and raised cattle south of Ogallah.
Marvin was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in WaKeeney.
Survivors include his wife, Anna, of WaKeeney; a daughter, Arlene Hamburg of Indianpolis, IN; a son, Dale Hamburg and wife, Olivia, of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren, Scott Sternson and wife Mona Khalil, Michael Murray, John Murray, Nicole Robeson and husband, Greg, and GiGi
Garcia and husband, Ken Booth; six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, and McKenna Booth, Brock and Cole Robeson, Sami Sternson; a brother, Clifford Hamburg of Colorado; and a sister, Elaine Gillmore of Salina.
His parents preceded him in death.
Services for Marvin will be 10:30 AM Thursday, February 3, 2011 in Schmitt Funeral Home at WaKeeney. Interment is in Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at WaKeeney.
No Visitation is planned.
