Marvin Argus Fabrizius, age 66, died February 18, 2014 at the Robert J. Dole VA Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. He was born April 1, 1947, at home in WaKeeney, Kansas, the son of Argus R. and Adeline Anna Pauline (Keller) Fabrizius. He attended WaKeeney schools. In 1966, he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a crew chief on B-52 Bombers which took him to the war in Vietnam. Marvin was always very proud of his service in the Air Force and his service to his country. After being released from his obligations with the Air Force he returned to WaKeeney where he worked as a mechanic. He owned and operated M and R Repair which he closed in 1990, when the United States Army requested his services. Marvin answered this call and returned to the military when they needed him most. He was briefly stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas before being deployed to Operation Desert Storm. While there, he worked as a mechanic on Abrams and Bradley M1A1 tanks. He spent most of his time in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where he was narrowly missed by a scud attack. After once again proudly serving his country, he returned to WaKeeney where he worked as a mechanic until he retired.
Marvin was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of WaKeeney. He was also a member of the VFW Post and American Legion Post of WaKeeney. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the City of WaKeeney. Marvin was especially proud of three things in life; first of which was his family, second was his service to his country, and third was his work as a mechanic. At the end of his battle with cancer, he did not say goodbye. He simply said "I will see you on the other side".
In 1969 Marvin married Caroline Evans and they had three boys Marvin, of Virginia, Clayton, of Arizona and David, of Virginia. They later divorced. In 1979 Marvin married Rose Farber. They had two boys Luke, of Manhattan, and Lance, of Independence. Rose brought to this marriage, her three children, Beverly, Barb and Jeff Farber. They later divorced.
Marvin is also survived by his two brothers, Melvin and Myron, both of WaKeeney; two sisters, Diann, of Larned and Denice, of Kansas City; and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Dorothy Lawyer, who passed away in 2012; and a step-daughter, Barb Farber.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in WaKeeney. Burial will be in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in WaKeeney with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Visitation and viewing will be Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
