Martin Gerhardt Mohr was born April 27, 1926 in rural Trego County, KS to the late Jacob and Bertha Anna (Struss) Mohr. He passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010 in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney at the age of 84.
As a child, he attended rural Trego County schools. Martin served in the United States Army during WWII. He returned home to do what he loved the most, farming and raising cattle.
On August 18, 1951, Martin was united in marriage to Eleanora Meiar in WaKeeney. She passed away May 16, 2005.
Martin was a member of the Randall Reid VFW Post #3449 and the American Legion Moore Post #197, both in WaKeeney. In his spare time, he enjoyed attending wedding dances, parties with relatives, and visiting with his children.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Mohr, Wichita; two daughters, Kathleen Scaccia and husband, Tony, Hastings, NE, Julie Bretton and husband, Raymond, Hutchinson; six grandchildren, Jamie Schaefer and husband, Jeremy, Robert Scaccia, Ryan, Courtney, and Nathan Bretton, Erin Mohr; two great-grandchildren, Elliot Schaefer and Jude Mohr; a brother, Ernie Mohr and wife, Leanna, WaKeeney; two sisters, Carolyn Schoenthaler and husband, LaVerne, WaKeeney, and Wilma Dietz, Ogallah.
Visitation for Martin is 6-8 PM Monday, September 6, 2010 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney. Funeral Services are 11:00 AM, Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Randy Gibbs and Intern Dana Helsing officiating. Interment is in St. Michael Cemetery, Collyer, KS.
