Obituary
Lydia Beardsley, former long-time resident of WaKeeney, passed away on Friday December 28, 2012 in Loveland, Colorado. Lydia was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on March 11, 1917 to George and Magdalena (Lena Schneider) Schwien. Lydia was one of eleven children born to George and Lena and was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters except for Ruth Mehler (Schwien) of Ellsworth, KS.
Preceding Lydia were brothers Bill, Fred, George, Samuel, Siguard (Slick) and Jason and sisters Eva (Schemm), Martha (Yaeger) and Lena (Shwien). An infant grandson, Eric Tate Beardsley, son of Bob and Hallie Beardsley, also preceded Lydia. Lydia attended Ness County Rural School near Bazine, Ks and attended Bazine High School before graduating from Trego Community H.S. in 1935. After graduation Lydia worked at Duckwalls and several government agencies in Manhattan, Hoxie and Oberlin. On December 9, 1944 Lydia married Rolland G. (Rollie) Beardsley in WaKeeney. Rollie preceded Lydia passing away on October 19, 1962. After Rollie's death, Lydia worked at the Trego County Treasurer's Office for 16 years.
Lydia and Rollie had two children, Robert (Bob) Beardsley and Linda (Lopez) Beardsley and three grandchildren – Bradlee M. Beardsley, Sara E. Beardsley (Becker) and Lance A. Lopez and two great grandchildren – Sonya Becker and Sophia Lopez. Survivor's include sister Ruth Mehler of Ellsworth, Ks.; Bob and Hallie Beardsley of Loveland, Colorado; Linda and Ron Lopez of Mead, Colorado; Lance and wife April and daughter Sophia Lopez of Austin, Texas; Sara, Nick and daughter Sonya Becker of Greeley, Colorado and Bradlee Beardsley of Greeley and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a past member of the Golden Group and Bethlehem Daughters of the Church. Cremation has taken place in Loveland. Final arrangements and services are pending.
