Lyda Schneider was born August 26, 1917, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to the late John and Katherine (Hilderman) Steinmark. She passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010, in the Asbury Park Care Facility in Newton, KS.

Lyda was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and very active in the Women's Church organizations and the county HDU program. For many years, Lyda taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In earlier years, she enjoyed sewing, making many of her own and her daughter's clothing, and making sure Nancy's had ruffles.
