Lifelong Park resident, Lorena (Waldman) Burgardt, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Gove County Medical Center. She was 80 years of age.
Lorena was born January 3, 1932, the daughter of Pius and Anna N. (Lovenstein) Waldman, on the family farm near Park. She was a 1949 graduate of Park High School. On January 22, 1951, Lorena was united in marriage to Donald E. Burgardt in Park. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage together until Donald's passing on June 6, 1988. Lorena was a loving homemaker. She owned and operated Lorena's Beauty Shop for many years. She truly enjoyed her job as a beautician. Lorena also loved to sew and quilt. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella.
Lorena will be missed by many friends and family, including two sons Don and wife Jeanette of Clairmore, Oklahoma and David and wife Marcia Welles of Park; one daughter Cynthia and husband Ken Keller of Quinter; three brothers Pius of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Delbert and wife Ethel of Denver, Colorado, and Linus and wife Antonia of Iola; two sisters Delores and husband Ed Zimmerman of Hastings, Nebraska, and Irene and husband Larry Bechard of Scottsdale, Arizona; twelve grandchildren John Burgardt, Jennie (Benjamin) Bickford, Josh (Leanna) Keller, Benjamin Keller, and Brandi Keller, Doug (Jennifer) Burgardt, Austin Burgardt, Lindsey Burgardt, and Summer (Phillip) Tobald, Derek Welles, Lucas (Jeanette) Welles, and Cheyenne Welles; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Mick, and an infant sister Mary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday November 27, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Park. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a parish vigil service immediately following at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.
