Obituary

Eva Loree Holaday passed away at the age of 94 at the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care in Quinter, Kansas. She was born on September 28, 1926, on the farm in Sheridan County just north of the Saline River. She was the oldest child of George Earl and Mary (Hargitt) Maxwell. At the age of 5, she moved with her family to Weskan, Ransom then to Wallace, Kansas and in 1935 they moved to the Maxwell home place north of Quinter.

She attended 1st grade in Weskan, 2nd and 3rd grade at Deines Rural School. She graduated from Quinter High School and Fort Hays State University. Loree was an elementary teacher for 13 years. She loved and was a friend of children all her life.

She married Raymond Holaday on August 13, 1959, and was a loving farmer's wife and mother of Richard Holaday (Nyla), Oakley, James Holaday, Grinnell, Raymond Holaday (significant other Becky Butts), Grinnell, and Thomas Holaday (Patty), Garfield; Doris Sullivan (Paul), Memphis, TN.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, the Gove Settlers F.C.E, and served on the Gove County American Cancer Board and Gove County 4H Council.

Loree is survived by brothers, Gordon Maxwell (Evelyn), Salina, Laverne Maxwell (Marlene), Quinter: sisters Anita Bray (William), Hawthorne, NV, and Luella Hadland, Dawson Creek, BC; grandchildren, Ricky Holaday (Andrea), Amanda Brown (Wilbert), Roxanne Head, Christina Blain (Derek) Rebecca Day, Heather Holaday (Jacob), Kaleb Holaday, Nicole Holaday; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond on April 5, 2001, her parents Earl and Mary Maxwell, brother Leonard Maxwell and sister Mary Louise Sorenson.

Due to the current pandemic, a private, immediate family graveside service will be observed at the Grinnell Township Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be determined at a convenient date in the future yet to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care.
