Obituary

Linda Kathleen Cline was born October 28, 1953, in Ransom, KS, to John, Jr. and Emma Arlene (Coker) Cline. She passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011, in the Trego Manor at WaKeeney at the age of 57.


Linda lived in Beeler until 1962 when she entered Parson State Hospital for the disabled. In 1970, she moved to the Norton State Hospital, and in 1972, she moved to the Prairie Developmental Center in Atwood. On September 21, 2009, her permanent home became the Trego Manor until her death.


She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Atwood and made her faith a very important part of her life.


Linda worked at various jobs while in the Prairie Development Center at Atwood and was excited about living on her own while she was there. She also enjoyed artwork, painting and drawing mostly outdoor scenes, and ceramic painting. Other hobbies included dancing, partying, fishing, camping and taking traveling trip vacations. She was a participant on the Northwest Winds basketball team and played in the special olympics. When she couldn't play any longer, she was always a good cheerleader for the team. Linda made numerous friends wherever she went.


Survivors include her parents, John and Arlene; two brothers, Daniel Cline and wife, Cynthia, Randy Cline and wife, Sandy, all of WaKeeney; a sister-in-law, Helen Windholz of Gorham; a niece, Candance Jewert and husband, Jason; and nephews, Brandon Cline and wife, Tammy, Jason Cline and wife, Jamie, Matthew Cline and wife, Jody, and Andrew Cline and special friend, Cara Dinkel.

An open visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in Schmitt Funeral Home. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in the First United Methodist Church at WaKeeney with Pastor Larry Danforth officiating. Interment is in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
