Obituary

Lillian Mary (Robben) Hockman passed away peacefully Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Benner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ, at the age of 83.

Lil was born "on the farm" on January 7, 1942, to Francis H. and Clara Josephine (Windholz) Robben in Walker, KS. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee Hockman on July 2, 1966.

Lil grew up in Walker, KS, where she graduated from South Walker Grade School and Gorham Rural High School. She moved to Rancho Cordova, CA, where she married Ken, who was stationed at Mather Air Force Base. Lil had a long civil service career and retired at 50. Lil and Ken always had an active life, enjoying years on the Sacramento River with their boat, attending car shows with her 1957 Ford Fairlane retractable hardtop, and traveling in their RV after retirement. Lil enjoyed happy hour and dancing with other RV park friends.

Lil is survived by her daughter, Robin Long; son-in-law, Christopher Long; granddaughter, Shelby Long; and grandson, Zade Long, all of Elk Grove, CA; sister, June Denning of Plainville, KS; sisters-in-law, Louise Robben and Doris Robben, both of Victoria, KS; brother-in-law, Richard (Cleo) Hockman of Hill City, KS; sisters-in-law, LaDonna (Edward) Mattke of Ogallah, KS, and Diane Cooper of Ellis, KS.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Norbert (Teresa) Robben, Kenneth Robben, Chuck Robben, and Francis Henry Robben Jr.; sisters, Shirley (Francis) Vonfeldt and Natholie (Marion) Schumacher; and brother-in-law, Keith Hockman Jr.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2025, at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672. Lil's burial will follow in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, WaKeeney, KS, with a lunch at the Eagles, WaKeeney.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project. Checks must be made to the non-profit and mailed to Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
