Lexsie Rae Newcomer, age 29, of WaKeeney, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March, 9th, 2023, at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Lexsie was born on February 15 th , 1994 at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital to Steve and Brenda Newcomer. She graduated from Trego Community High School in 2012 and her strong desire to help people led to her attending Kansas State University, where she pursued pre-physical therapy studies. Lexsie was a very strong student and was able to fast-track her education by getting into the advanced occupational therapy program at The University of Kansas School of Medicine. She graduated with her Bachelor's and Master's degree from there in 2017 and began working as an occupational therapist in the Kansas City area.
In her free time, Lexsie loved playing with her dog Sadie, hanging out with friends and family, going to concerts and movies, and cheering on her beloved Kansas State Wildcats. She had a huge heart and was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed help.
Lexsie is survived by her parents Steve Newcomer of Ogallah and Brenda Newcomer of WaKeeney, KS; Brother Mitch Newcomer (Kim) of WaKeeney, KS; Sister Whitney Montgomery (Taylor) of Denver, CO; Nieces Kamryn and Eva Newcomer and Baby Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Duane and Elaine Newcomer and Patricia Hands and Robert Spena; Her aunt and uncle Sandra and David French, and cousin Cory French.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Father Charlie Steier of Christ the King will be officiating. A rosary and family visitation will be held at the church, prior to the service, starting at 9:30 AM. Lunch will follow the Mass at Christ the King Parish Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hospice House of Hutchinson, KS. Donations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
