WaKeeney resident, LaVerne Lindberg, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Trego Manor in WaKeeney. He was 93 years of age. He was born August 11, 1919 in rural Trego County, to Albert and Hilda (McKinley) Lindberg.
On June 8, 1947, LaVerne married Gladys Marie Acheson in WaKeeney. They enjoyed 29 years of marriage until her passing on April 20, 1977. In 1983, LaVerne married Elizabeth Moore. She survives him. LaVerne worked as a custodian for Trego Community Grade School for 25 years. He was a dog lover and enjoyed going to auctions. In LaVerne's younger days, he enjoyed "tinkering" with many types of mechanical projects. He was known by many for his sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh.
Survivors include numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gladys; a brother Emanuel
"Sonny"; and two sisters Mabel Hacker and Esther Lindberg.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Schmitt Funeral Home of WaKeeney with Pastor Gene Grimes as officiant. Burial will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
