Larry Dale Deines was born January 27, 1941, on the family farm in rural Trego County, KS. He was the son of Louis and Hilda Fern (Ochs) Deines. He passed away at the age of 68 on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, on the same family farm he was born.
As a child, Larry was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church at Trego Center. He attended rural schools, graduated from Trego Community High School with the class of 1959, and received his B.S. degree from Fort Hays State University in 1969. He served in the United States Army from 1963 through 1965.
On January 22, 1968, Larry was united in marriage to Audrey Couture in the Zion Lutheran Church. Audrey took one day at a time during their 41 years of marriage, as Larry would approach her on any given day and tell her that they were packing to go wherever he decided on moments notice.
Larry was a farmer and rancher, but his first love was hunting, fishing, and motorcycling. He cherished his three granddaughters always saying how much he enjoyed there little chats they all had together.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Trego Center and the Randall Reid VFW Post #3449 in WaKeeney.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey; a son, Chad and his wife, Marjean, all of WaKeeney; a daughter, Erika Perry and husband, Judd, of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Regan, Brynn, and Kinsley Perry; and a brother Robert Deines and his wife, Cynthia, of Sho Low, AZ.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Brett Deines; and a brother Duane Deines.
Services were held Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jon Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Trego Center, KS.
