Kenneth Gerald Ribordy was born July 1, 1925, in rural Gove County, KS, to the late Levi and Margaret (Tremblay) Ribordy. He passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009 at his home in Grinnell at the age of 84.


On October 11, 1944, Ken was united in marriage to Luella Schumacher in Grainfield. Together, they farmed in Gove County. He later operated his own body shop named, R & R Body Shop. Ken also drove a school bus for many years. Luella passed away October 16, 1995.

Ken was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Grainfield.

Survivors include his children, Randy and wife, Dorene, Aurora, CO, Cheryl Huelsman and husband, Don, Grinnell, Roxanne Ribordy, Wichita, Nick Ribordy, Aurora, CO, Marcie Sardo and husband, Mark, Kechi, Melanie Beckman, Grinnell; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a brother, Lenard Ribordy and wife, Pauline, Oakley; three sisters, Marcella Albers and husband, Ralph, MaryAnn Racette, and Rita Huffman and husband, Perry, all of Oakley.


Preceding him in death was his wife, Luella, whom he took care of for many years; a great-grandson, Quaid Huelsman; a son-in-law, Doug Beckman; a brother, Leon Ribordy; and two sisters, Madeline Rumback and Marcie Rowland.

Services for Ken will be held Friday, December 18, 2009 at 10:00 AM in St. Agnes Catholic Church at Grainfield.


Visitation will be held 6-7 PM Thursday at St. Agnes Educational Center with a vigil service at 7:00 PM.
