Kenneth Adair Hearting was born December 19, 1920, to the late Lewis and Ida (Wagoner) Hearting on a farm near Brownell, KS. He passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney at the age of 90.
He graduated from Brownell High School in 1938. He received a Teaching Certificate from Fort Hays State and taught in rural schools for several years.
On May 11, 1940, he was united in marriage to Carol Sunley in Dighton. They owned and operated their own business, K-Hearting Amusement Co. for 60 years.
Kenneth was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3774 in WaKeeney. When time permitted, Kenneth loved fishing, hunting and boating at Cedar Bluff Lake. He enjoyed country western music, Clint Eastwood movies, football, basketball, and gambling.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Carol, of the home; three sons, Russell and wife, Jeanice, WaKeeney, Richard and wife, Judy, Collyer, Duane and wife, Susan, Ogallah; two daughters, Margaret Wahlborg, and husband, Elgin, Arkansas City, Barbara Richter and husband, Stephen, McLean, VA; grandchildren, Troy Wahlborg, Tish Becker and husband, Eric, Rusty, Holly, and Amy Hearting, William Richter and wife, Gretchen, Kaylee Vasquez and husband, David, Ashlee Parke and husband, Luke, Lisa Hearting, Brandy Althouse and husband, Brett, Wade Hearting and wife, Chelsea; three great-grandchildren, Lucas & Lanie Becker and Annya Vasquez; and a sister, Dorine Sherill, Marysville.
A brother, Clifford Hearting; two half brothers, Glenn and Dale Richardson; and a sister, Ellen Patterson, preceded him in death.
Services for Kenneth will be held 2 PM Thursday, December 30, 2010 in Schmitt Funeral Home at WaKeeney with Pastor Troy Miller officiating. Interment is in WaKeeney City Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Funeral Home.
