Obituary

Julia (Kleinhans) Rupp was born October 29, 1922, in Colby, KS, and passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at her home in Wichita at the age of 88.


On April 14, 1947, Julia was united in marriage to Marcus Rupp in Colby, KS. Julia and Marcus owned and operated Rupp Jewelry Store in WaKeeney for many years.


She was preceded in death by her parents , Benjamin A. and Sylvia G. (Jones) Kleinhans; husband, Marcus Rupp; and eldest daughter, Susan Kathleen Rupp. She is survived by daughters Teresa I. Rupp of Wichita; Sylvie A. Rupp of Cheyenne, WY; and Karen J. Rupp-Serrano (Gabriel) of Noble, OK; grandchildren Kelsey E. Glass, James M. Glass, and Augustin C. Serrano; and a sister, Mrs. Neva J. Merriman of Lawrence, KS.


Of her many personal accomplishments, Mrs. Rupp was most proud of her poetry, which she wrote from her high school years until her death, publishing a book of verse and frequently producing poems for the weekly Western Kansas World in WaKeeney. A long-time resident of WaKeeney and a more recent resident of Wichita, Mrs. Rupp is remembered by her family and friends as bright and funny, a woman of many gifts and great conviction.

Visitation for Julia will be 6-7 PM, Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney with a Vigil at 7:00 PM.

Services for Julia will be 10:30 AM, Friday, September 16, 2011 in Christ the King Catholic Church at WaKeeney with Father Donald Pfannenstiel officiating. Interment is in Christ the King Cemetery.
