Joseph Peter Gassmann was born April 1, 1944 on a farm near Grinnell, KS to Joseph Peter and Germaine (Kreutzer) Gassmann. He passed away Friday, September 18, 2009 at his home in Grinnell at the age of 65.
He graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1962 and went on to attend a Vo-Tech college in Colorado.
Over the past few years, Joseph worked for many area farmers and in the oilfields.
Survivors include two sons, Tim Gassmann and wife, Pam, of Hays, Jeff Gassmann of Plainville; a daughter Sheila Teichmer; two brothers, Henry of Grinnell, Martin and wife, Bobby, of Oakley; sisters, Clementine Katt and husband, Bernard, of Grainfield, Delores Applebee of Eldorado Springs, MO, Margaret Bruggeman of McPherson; a half-sister, Alice Wagoner and husband, Wilfred, of Jennngs; sisters-in-law, Aggie Gassmann of Grainfield, Maggie Gassmann of Park; and grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Rubert, Conrad, Pius, and Julius Gassmann; and two sisters, Agnes Bollig and Josephine Gassmann.
Services for Joseph were held Wednesday, September 23, in Schmitt Funeral Home at Quinter, KS with Pastor Keith Funk officiating. Inurnment is in Grainfield Cemetery.
