John Edward Price, age 53, died at his home in Rush Center, Kansas on April 27, 2024. He was born on July 11, 1970, in Fredonia, Kansas, the son of James and Martha (Byington) Price.

John grew up in the Sharon Springs, KS area and was a 1988 graduate of Wallace County High School. He attended Colby Community College and later received his welding certifications from Missouri Welding Institute.

After two "official" dates and a short engagement, John married Gina Evans on April 15, 1995, in Gove, Kansas. Together they raised two boys, owned and operated Smokey Valley Transport, LLC, and just recently celebrated 29 years of marriage. John was a hard worker, he devoted much of his life as a truck driver but also had other passions such as helping others when he served with EMS, police, and fire department divisions. John never was one to take time to relax much but when he did he just wanted to be with his family.

John is survived by his wife, Gina; two sons, Weston Price and wife Kyrstyn, of Claflin, KS, and Cody Price and wife Kaylyn, of Overland Park, KS; one grandson, Nolan; his father James Price and wife Rue, of Susank, KS; one brother James Price, Jr, and wife Tammy, of Hays, KS; one sister, Dana Van Allen of Goodland, KS; mother-in-law, Marjorie Evans of La Crosse, KS, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Price, and father-in-law, Eugene Evans.

A graveside funeral service will be held at the Gove Cemetery, Gove, KS on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Friends may visit with family at the Gove Community building following the service. The family requests casual attire.

Memorial Contributions may be given to the Rush County EMS or the Rush County Fire District #3.
