Obituary

John Charles Cain was born in Peabody, KS, on October 11, 1931, to the late Frank J. and Twyla Belle (Skinner) Cain. He passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney, KS at the age of 78.


He attended Trego Community High School in WaKeeney.

On July 2, 1955, he married Norma Drake. On May 24, 1980, John married Marsha Lee Cotropia Roberts. She survives of the home in Hays. John worked as a welder for Midwest Energy and retired in 1987.

He was a member of Church of Christ in Hays, the Randall Reid VFW Post #3449, and the Odd Fellows #304, both in WaKeeney.


In his earlier years, John loved working on the family farm. He also worked at Boeing in Wichita before he taught welding at East High and Vo-Tech schools, also in Wichita. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, adored his cat, 'Winsfon' and treasured the times spent with his family.

John is survived by his wife, Marsha, of Hays; daughters, Cathy Parker of Wichita, Kim Roberts of Denver, CO; adopted daughter, Candy Hall of Eldorado; a grandchild, Lori Robbins; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Courtney Robbins; and nieces, Penny Anderson of WaKeeney, and Twyla Jo Leake of Baytown, TX.

His parents and a brother, Frank 'Bud' Cain, Jr. preceded him in death.

A graveside Memorial Service for John will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at WaKeeney, KS with Pastor Randy Gibbs officiating.
