JoAnn Dinkel, age 80, of Quinter, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care. She was born September 19, 1933, in Park, the daughter of Alex and Matilda (Billinger) Kraft.
She was a Park High School graduate. On October 11, 1955, she was united in marriage to Rudolph "Rudy" Dinkel in Park. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together. She and Rudy owned and operated Dinkel IGA in Grainfield for many years. JoAnn was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and Christian Mothers, in Grainfield. She and Rudy were known for their active role in the Wheatland High School Booster Club. They were always there to support the school. JoAnn enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cards with family and friends, and any type of puzzle. She also was very proud of her garden and yard. She cherished her time with grandkids, and was always there to attend their activities. She will be dearly missed by many.
Survivors include her husband, Rudy; five children, Kay and husband Albert Goetz of Park, Ron and wife Vickie of Emporia, Allan and wife Wanda of Quinter, Kathy and husband Mike Mathes of Topeka, and Tom and wife Nancy of Garden City; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters Irene Depperschmidt of Salina, Edna Cooksey of Park, and Viola and husband Cletus Burgardt of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter Sheryl Powers.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Grainfield. Burial will be in the Grainfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Parish vigil service will be 7:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
