SERVICE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO SATURDAY FEBRUARY 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN GRAINFIELD
Jerry Ivan Noel of WaKeeney, KS passed away on February 15, 2013 at the Gove County Medical Center in Quinter, KS. Jerry was born to Ruby and Jehu Noel on August 30, 1940 in Rosepine, Lousiana in a chicken coup, which he proudly told people himself.
In 1958 Jerry graduated from Gove, KS High School and joined the U.S. Navy where he learned to be a radio operator and guitarist. Jerry worked as a telephone engineer for the majority of his life in Rural Kansas and Wichita, KS and seemed to be a jack of all trades. Most people remember Jerry for his love of playing guitar and rarely saying "no" to any request made of him by the neighbor kids and families.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ramona (Monie) Mendenhall, sister Mayata Noel and leaves behind his wife Sharon Noel; sons Vincent Noel (Gove, KS), Jay Noel (Phoenix, AZ), John Noel (San Diego, CA), Jeremy Noel (Wichita, KS) and 9 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Grainfield, KS with Stan Smith officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Association or American Heart Association and are in care of Schmitt Funeral Home 901 S. Main Quinter KS 67752.
