Jennie Lee Grace (Lorenz – Zordel) Clews went to meet our Lord Jesus on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the age of 86 years, 19 days, in Trego Co Lemke Memorial Hospital LTC, WaKeeney, Kansas. She was born on December 22, 1933 in a house 9 miles outside of WaKeeney. She is the daughter of Adam and Helen (Schneider) Lorenz. She married Robert G. Zordel on July 29, 1955. Together they had 6 children. They divorced in 1979. She then married Earl D Clews on April 12 th , 1986.
She was a past member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She is a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had been a housewife during both marriages and worked at Southwest Fiberglass Plant in Graham, Texas in between.
Jennie is survived by her husband; 5 children: Peggy Carter & husband, James of Graham, TX, Terrence A. Zordel & wife, Lao of Smiths, AL, Daniel L. Zordel & wife, Loretta of Hays, KS, Kelly Bliss & Lee Chaney of Graham, TX, Timothy L. Zordel & wife, Sandy of Silver Lake, KS; a Son-in-Law, Matthew Venechuk of Surprise, AZ; 3 step-children: Mark Clews of WaKeeney, Jeanette Clews of Wichita, KS; Tracey Post & husband, Dustin of Kansas City, MO; 17 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Tammy Venechuk; a brother, Robert B. Lorenz, and a nephew Robert B. Lorenz Jr.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the funeral home in WaKeeney. Burial will follow at WaKeeney City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening, from 5 to 7 o'clock, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society of the High Plains in Hays, KS or Hospice Services Inc of Northwest Kansas, in Phillipsburg, KS. Donations to either organization may be left with or sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12 th , WaKeeney, KS 67672.
