IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice Lee
Blender
January 10, 1947 – January 6, 2024
Janice Lee Blender, age 76, of WaKeeney, Kansas, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Trego County-Lemke Memorial Long Term Care.
Born to Francis and Bernitta (Hargitt) Wheatcroft on January 10, 1947, in Quinter, KS, Janice embarked on a life filled with compassion and dedication. A proud graduate of Dighton High School in 1965, she continued her education, eventually becoming a certified nurse aide. For 32 years, she dedicated herself to the well-being of others at Trego County-Lemke Long Term Care.
On January 27, 1973, Janice married John Thomas Blender. Though John passed away on April 29, 1977, their bond remained a cherished part of Janice's heart.
Janice's commitment extended beyond her professional life. A member of Eagles Aerie #3774 for 40 years, she served as president and conductor, leaving an indelible mark on the organization. She found joy in simple pleasures—savoring a good cup of coffee, losing herself in a captivating book, and enjoying the thrill of bingo.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved son, Chester Blender of WaKeeney, KS; sister, Lucille Benton of WaKeeney, KS; brother, Joe Lynn Wheatcroft of Illinois; sister-in-law's, Beverly Lundstrom and Kay McCabe; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Bernitta Wheatcroft; her husband, John Thomas Blender; and brothers, Dennis Royce and Phil Marion Wheatcroft.
A funeral service to celebrate Janice's life will be held on Thursday, January 11, at 10:00 a.m. CST at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney, Kansas. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. CST. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Eagles Lodge #3774 and Trego County-Lemke Memorial Long Term Care. Contributions can be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home at 336 North 12th Street, WaKeeney, KS, 67672.
Janice's legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will forever be a source of inspiration and love.
