Obituary
Hugh Faulkner, Jr., of WaKeeney, was born August 27, 1919, the son of Hugh Faulkner, Sr. and Ellen (Kilkenny) Faulkner, in Hays. He passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney.
Hugh attended a one room country school and Ellis High School, where he graduated in 1936. He served our country in World War II, spending 3 ½ years in the Army Air Force as an instrumental specialist, working on fighter planes in North Africa, Corsica and Italy.
On October 15, 1957, he was united in marriage to Agnes Leiker in St. Joseph's church of Hays. They spent 53 years of marriage together, until her passing on November 25, 2010. Farming was his way of life and also his hobby. He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church and a life member of the VFW.
Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and an infant brother, Phillip.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday April 17, 2013, at Christ The King Catholic Church of WaKeeney. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a parish vigil service immediately following at Schmitt Funeral Home of WaKeeney.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Christ The King Catholic Church (Parish Hall Construction) and may be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
