Hazel Marie Low, age 94, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney. She was born July 16, 1916, to the late Jesse M. and Genevieve (Campbell) Hunt in Stockton, KS.
She graduated from Stockton High School with the class of 1933. On July 25, 1937, Hazel was united in marriage to Raleigh Low at Alma, NE. Together, they owned and operated an accounting firm in WaKeeney. Raleigh passed away January 26, 1971.
Hazel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a sister of CT Chapter of P.E.O, and a Keeney Village Board member, all in WaKeeney. She also served on the Northwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging Board and the Blue/Cross/Blue Shield Advisory Committee.
Her hobbies included playing bridge, as she belonged to many bridge clubs, quilting, sewing, and traveling. Hazel adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always involved in their activities. She was always busy and eager to be doing something.
Those left to mourn her passing are a daughter, Marlene Leick and husband, Roger, Burnsville, MN; five grandchildren, Aaron Weigel and wife, Danelle, of WaKeeney, Kelle Bosley and husband, Lewie, of Dighton, Dena Weigel-Bell and husband, Angus, of Portland, OR, Raleigh Leick of Farmington, MN, Adria Godfrey and husband, Ed, of Blue Bell, PA; three great-grandchildren, Brett Billinger, Colleen Bosley, Tatum Bell; a brother, Jesse Hunt, Jr., of Stockton; a sister, Flossie Hake of Plainville; and a son-in-law, Robert Weigel of WaKeeney.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh; a daughter, Kathryn Weigel; two brothers, Lee and Glen Hunt, Sr.; and three sisters, Helen Lindsey, Velma Maddy, and Myrtle Waters.
Memorial services will be held 10;30 AM Saturday, July 16, 2011, in the First Presbyterian Church at WaKeeney. Inurnment will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
